Adamawa Crisis: PDP Summons Nyako, Stakeholders

The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is set to meet with Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State and stakeholders in the state tomorrow at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja in what is said to be a make or mar meeting.

Since the dissolution of the PDP’s State Executive Committee in the state and the subsequent conduct of the LG poll in the State, the crisis of leadership in the PDP in the state has taken a different dimension with the PDP governors sending a delegation to the Wadata Plaza national secretariat of the party, following the directive by the caretaker committee put in place by the party that a new congress should be held.

In a letter titled “Invitation For A Meeting Of PDP Major Stakeholders of Adamawa State”, addressed to Governor Murtala Nyako by the national secretary of the party, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, dated December 12, 2012, the party said the meeting shall be between the national working committee members of the party, Governor Nyako and some stakeholders in the party, and is at the instance of the meeting reached between the NWC and some governors last week.

Those also listed to attend the meeting tomorrow in Oyinlola’s letter included members od the Adamawa State PDP caretaker committee, the dissolved state Exco, and stakeholders in the state who include former governor of the State, Ambassador Wilberforce Juta, Senator Bello Tukur and Prof. Jubril Aminu.
