An alleged contract fraudster, Tope Akinmoladun told journalists yesterday that his advert publications calling for tenders from the general public to construct two blocks of 12 classrooms for primary and secondary schools in 774 local government councils in the country was known to the minister of education, Professor Ruqayyatu Ahmed Rufai .
Akinmoladun said this when he was paraded by the federal capital territory (FCT) police commissioner, Mr Adenrele Shinaba before some journalists in his office.
LEADERSHIP exclusively reported yesterday that Akinmoladun who claimed immunity from the inspector general of police, Mr Abubakar Mohammed have been arrested by the criminal investigating department (CID) of the FCT police command on the Christmas Day and was? paraded by the commissioner of police.
The police also paraded Akinmoladun’s staff, Lawrence Adeyehinum,? Joy Sheidu, Amen Musa and Anaja Yinusa.
One of the complainants, Arc. Adejoh Mohammed had stated that after the advert publications, he applied to tender for the Idah local government and consequently shared the project with another contractor who bided for the same local government.
Adejoh said he paid a total of N348,000 because he was to share the contract with another person otherwise he would have paid close to N800,000.
But Akinmoladun said he had first submitted his proposal for this project in 2002, to the former President Olusegun Obasanjo who directed his special adviser on education to look at it.
‘’We submitted another proposal to President Jonathan in May 2012 and he directed minister of education to work with us.
There is a letter from the minister in July 2012 and even an approval letter dated September 26, 2012? for certain aspect of our projects from the minister.
