Al-Makura’s Achievements Overshadow PDP’s 12-Yr Failure

The senior special assistant to the Nasarawa State governor on media and press affairs, Alhaji Sani Musa Mairiga has said that what the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government failed to achieve in 12 years in Nasarawa State has been achieved in just 17 months by Governor Umar Tanko Al-makura.

Sani Musa Mairiga stated this while addressing newsmen in Abuja yesterday against the backdrop of a press statement issued in Lafia by the PDP chairman in the state, Mr Yunana Iliya, accusing Al-makura of doing nothing to better the living conditions of the people of the state.

The governor’s media aide said, “It became necessary and expedient to correct these erroneous impressions about Al-makura’s administration which has made giant strides in all sectors of the state economy, such as roads, water supply and improved electricity supply in Lafia, the state capital and some major towns across the three senatorial districts of the state.”

Alhaji Mairiga said the PDP chairman should bury his head in shame for his party’s inability to develop the state in its 12 years of misrule in the state instead of casting aspersion on Al-makura and his administration.

Mairiga said Mr Yunana himself benefited from the many sham projects executed by the last administration of Aliyu Akwe Doma, because he was given some contracts which were allegedly not properly executed but smiled home with huge public fund.

“Indeed, democracy entails freedom of expression and freedom to hold opinion; we should also acknowledge the fact that where one’s freedom ends another’s begins. I want to call on all those peddling false information against the administration of Umar Tanko Al-makura to desist and join hands with him to take Nasarawa State to enviable heights.

I also want to categorically state here that no amount of blackmail will stop Al-makura in his ever-burning desire to provide democratic dividends to the people,” Mairiga said.
