Benue Assembly Suspends Debate On 2013 Budget

The Benue House of Assembly has suspended debate on the state’s Appropriation Bill for 2013 , the News agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

The Majority Leader, Mr Paul Biam, moved the motion for the suspension on Wednesday at its plenary session. He said that the decision was to enable the Standing Committee on Appropriation to re-examine the contents of the bill before re-presenting it to the house NAN reports that the motion was seconded by Mr Terkimbir Kyange, representing Ushongo Constituency.

Ruling on the motion, the Speaker of the House, Mr Terhile Ayua, said the committee needed to re-examine the contents so that it could enlighten the House. The speaker also stressed the need for punctuality of members to enable the House attend to pressing issues affecting the people. He warned that late coming at plenary sessions would no longer be condoned. (NAN)
