Customs Arrests Passenger With $767, 500 At Lagos Airport

Men of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) have arrested a passenger at the Lagos International Airport with $767, 500.

The passenger, identified as Yusuf Taofeeq Olanrewaju with passport number A03758685 was arrested while trying to board an Emirates flight number EK782 to Hong Kong via Dubai through the E wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.

The passenger and the said amount have been handed over to the Economic And Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), for further investigation.

According to the public relations officer of the NCS at the Airport Command Office, Mrs. Thelma Williams, though the passenger declared the said amount on the prescribed forms CDF1A and CDF1B, he could not explain satisfactorily the source of the money.

Williams explained that upon investigations by the Customs, the passenger was observed to be a frequent traveller.

On May, 26, 2012, he travelled with two hundred and twenty eight thousand dollars to Hong Kong.

On July,? 21, 2012, he travelled with three hundred and ninety five thousand dollars to Hong Kong.

On September 15, 2012, he travelled with five hundred and twenty five thousand dollars to Hong Kong.

On November 3, 2012, he travelled with ten thousand dollars to China. And this present case , January, 10, 2013, when he travelled with seven hundred and sixty seven thousand and five hundred dollars to Hong Kong.”
