Bayelsa Govt Denies Claim On Empty Treasury Charge Against Sylva

The Bayelsa State Government yesterday denied the claim that it accused the former Governor,Timipre Sylva of handing over the rein of power to Governor Seriake Dickson and leaving behind the sum of N4,451 in the coffers of the state government, saying what the present administration met was “a meagre usable fund.”

The data provided by the state commissioner of Finance, Hon. Duate Yabi during a Transparency briefing in Abuja last week had thrown up controversy with the claim that former governor, Timipre Sylva plundered the funds of the state and handed over the sum of N4,451 in the treasury of the state.

A claim that attracted criticism from politicians and loyalists of the former governor who slammed the Seriake Dickson-led administration for alleged wicked claims, with the immediate past Chairman of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP), Comrade Sunday Frank-Oputu describing the claim as “misleading” and “shameful lie.”
