2015 Behind Govs’ Gang Up Against Tukur – PDP Chieftains

Some elders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP ) in Adamawa State say the current impasse in the party is a creation of the governors in a bid to enthrone one of theirs as a presidential candidate come 2015.

At a press briefing in Abuja, the elders said it was unfortunate that the President was allowing the governors of the PDP to operate like war lords, adding that if not checked, the governors could crumble the party.

Speaking on behalf of the elders at a press conference yesterday, outspoken PDP Chieftain in Adamawa State, Dr Umar Ardo,? said the governors are using the Adamawa crisis to test their might and see how far they could go in projecting their interest.

“It is all about 2015. Anybody that tells you anything contrary is not sincere, they want to impose one of them as the presidential candidate of the party in 2015 and that is why they are defying what the people and the president want,” he stated.

Ardo said they would not recognise the newly constituted “PDP committee on Adamawa Crisis and Resolution” saying the committee is “mysterious” as it is alien to them.

He said the committee owed it as a mark of respect to all stakeholders to be open in their dealings instead of the shady manner they were? asking members? to submit memoranda? to the committee through newspaper adverts without divulging their identities.

?“If it is the president, let us see a statement from the presidency, if it is from the National Working Committee of the party let’s see a statement from the national chairman of the party saying so. But if it is from the Oyinlola gang of 10 then there’s no way we can recognise it and as far as we are concerned, it is dead on arrival.

“There ought to be a letter from the presidency saying so if it is actually from the president and if it is from the party then there should be a statement from the national working committee but we cannot just wake up and see a committee from the blues asking us to submit memoranda,” the elders said.
