Kano Killings: JTF Tightens Security

Following Friday’s killings of nine polio vaccination workers in Kano, the Joint Task Force (JTF) has beefed up security in the state by establishing new checkpoints on the major roads in the metropolis.

LEADDERSHIP SUNDAY gathered that new checkpoints were created along the Hotoro Eastern Bye pass linking UnguwaUku and ‘Yankaba.

Also new checkpoints were seen at Kwanar Maggi on Maiduguri Road as well as near the state Housing Corporation on Zaria road.
A checkpoint was also erected at the popular State Road near Magwan junction traffic light leading to AuduBako Way in Nassarawa Government Reserved Area (GRA).

Checks by LEADERSHIP SUNDAY revealed that the top security measures were taken to forestall a reccurrence of Friday’s ugly incidence.

Top security sources informed said a massive manhunt for the attackers had commenced. It was also learned that the ancient city had witnessed massive deployment of plain clothe security personnel to check the further attacks, especially on UnguwaUku and Hotoro areas where the gunmen struck on Friday.

A competent source said that security had been beefed up along the entry and exit points in the Kano metropolis such as Mariri along Maiduguri Road, Hadeija Road, Mil Tara along Katsina Road, Zaria Zoad and RijiyarZaki along Gwarzo Road.

According the source, there was an unusual presence of heavily armed security personnel in strategic locations in the state as well as intense patrol by members of the JTF.?
