Jang Splashes N1m On Glo Soccer Academy Participants

Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau State has given two participants from? Jos South football team who took part in the Glo 2012 Soccer Academy N1m each.

The duo are Abdulrahaman Umar and Yakubu Aliyu who were the only two selected? participants of Glo Soccer Academy from Northern Nigeria to attend the Manchester United Academy this year out of thousands of participants from four countries.

The governor while receiving the lads at government house Jos said they have done the state and the entire country proud.

Jang said? that since the inception of his administration, the state government has been “silently developing sports” citing the ongoing construction work in the new stadium,? “Plateau State has been producing sports talents and we are always on top in the north”.

He promised to source for funds to complete the new stadium and develop sporting facilities in the state.? He said at the completion of the new stadium by the end of the year, all sporting talents who have their roots on the Plateau including Mikel Obi, Victor Moses, Sunday Mba, Ogenyi Onazi and Ahmed Musa? will be invited after the premier league and honored.

Jang? congratulated Keshi for leading the Super Eagles to victory stating that he was critical about Keshi before the victory untill he saw “a determined man in Keshi having emerge as the second African to win the African Cup of Nations both as a player and a coach.” He advised that a foreign technical adviser be engaged because the Nigeria Sports sector is not fully developed.

“I am not saying a foreigner should be placed ahead of him, my advise is that a foreign technical adviser be engaged because our sports is not fully developed and we should develop our club sides” he said.

He promised to support the two Glo Soccer Academy participants in their football career and award them scholarships.
