No rift in Governors’ Forum, PDP – Tukur

The National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, on Monday dismissed speculations of a rift in the Nigerian Governors Forum and the party.

There are rumours of a crack within the ruling national party following the emergence of Gov. Godswil Akpabio of Akwa Ibom as the Chairman of PDP Governors’ Forum.

Fielding questions from newsmen in Kano, Tukur said he was working with all the PDP governors as brothers and members of the same party.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the PDP National Chairman was in Kano to commiserate with the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, over the attack on his convoy on Jan. 19.

“I think it is not true that there is rift in the Governors’ Forum or in PDP, there is nothing like that.

“Rotimi Ameachi remains the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, while Godswil Akpabio is the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum and the party is intact,’’ Tukur said.

He said his objective as the chairman of the party was a tripartite reform agenda.

He said that it included reconciling all the aggrieved party members, that is reconciliation without confrontation, then reformation without revenge, and rebuilding the party based on equity and justice.

NAN reports that before his departure to Abuja, the PDP chairman had a meeting with the leaders of the party in the state. ?
