Abuja Agog For Samsung Beach Volleyball Championship

The second edition of Samsung annual Beach Volleyball Open Championship got underway at the Jabi Lake Beach Volleyball Court, Abuja with 20 teams each featuring in the men and women events of the championship.

Speaking at the press briefing yesterday before the commencement of the championship, president Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVF), Engr Habu Gumel applauded the effort of the electronic giant for their attempt to help reposition volleyball development from the grassroots.

He said the electronic outfit has been constant in partnering with the NVF in organising strategic competitions that create opportunities and platform for emergence of talents that are capable of launching Nigeria into the comity of high performing sporting nations.

“Words alone cannot exhaust my appreciation, rather I will encourage you to continue to support the federal government effort at repositioning Nigerian sports.

“The talents discovered at the last edition were nurtured and engaged in various championships that won laurels for Nigeria.

With what I have seen in the last edition, I have no doubt in my mind that potentials that can do us proud abound all over the country if carefully identified and managed,” he stated.
