Elder statesman and northern elder, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, has urged President Goodluck Jonathan to ensure the implementation of his economic transformation agenda.
The veteran politician, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Saturday that he was? satisfied with the steps taken by the president towards realising the agenda, so far.
Yakasai, a former presidential adviser on National Assembly matters to former president, Shehu Shagari, in the Second Republic, also commended the president for constituting an economic team of tested hands.

?

“By appointing the Economic Management Team under the leadership of our renowned international financial expert, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the president has taken the right step in the right direction.’’

?

?He said that if? President Jonathan could ensure full implementation of his transformation programme, it would bring about the desired socio-economic development in the country.
Commenting on President Jonathan’s achievement within 100 days in office, the statesman said it would be “unrealistic for any person to assess any government within a period of 100 days.

?

“What one can best do is to look at its mission statement and the practical steps it has taken to prepare ground for realising the objective it set out to achieve.”? ?
Yakassai, however, urged the president and his Economic Team to set achievable targets for all? programmes.
“I will like to advise the president to ensure that whatever he wishes to achieve, he should try as much as possible to see that by the end of next year, he has something to show for it.”
