The Katsina State government has issued one month ultimatum to 36 allotees of land at its commercial layout to develop it or have their allocations revoked.
Briefing newsmen, the State Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Husseini Garba Yarmama who issued the ultimatum said the decision followed the failure of the allotees to develop the land as specified in the terms of agreement.
Yarmama said that out of the 55 plots allocated to some business men at the Katsina commercial layout, only 19 allotees had developed their plot and noted that 36 allotees had failed to develop theirs.
He said that government was disturbed by the non compliance of the allotees hence its decision to issue the ultimatum, assuring that “government will re-allocate the 36 plots of land at the expiration of the one month ultimatum.”
The Commissioner however said that the 19 allotees who had developed their land would get their certificate of occupancy at the State Ministry of Lands and Survey.
It would be recalled that the state government, in 2009, allocated 55 plots of land to businessmen at its commercial layout, as part of measures to enhance the growth of the city by supporting business and commercial activities.
Part of the conditions for the allocation was that the allotees must develop the land to lintel level before being issued with a certificate of occupancy.
