Speaker, Benue assembly solicits support for President Jonathan

The Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly, Mr David Iorhemba, has called on the people of the state to support the administration of President Goodluck? Jonathan.

He made the call on Wednesday in Makurdi while speaking with newsmen on the visit of Jonathan to the state to inspect flooded areas and commiserate with the victims of the disaster.

Iorhemba said that if the people supported the president, he would assist the state government to develop the state.

He said the decision of the President to visit camps for victims displaced by the flood and inspect flooded areas in the state, was a demonstration of his love for the people of Benue state.

Iorhemba said the President had brought hope to flood victims across the country, as he had promised to assist them and make live comfortable for them.

The Speaker said Jonathan was a man of his words and would not relent to ameliorate the plight of flood victims across the country.

Iorhemba also commended Gov. Gabriel Suswam for his timely intervention in cushioning the effects of the flooding on the victims.

He also lauded the governor for securing plots of land to build accommodation for flood victims whose houses, located by the side of river Benue were destroyed by the flood.

He enjoined the victims to be patient with the governor, saying the government was working out modalities to resettle them.
