The Minister of Sports, Sani Ndanusa, says Super Eagles Manager, Lars Lagerback’s contract may be extended if he succeeds in the final of 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

Ndanusa said this when the board members of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), led by its President, Alhaji Sani Lulu, presented the Technical Adviser to the Minister on Tuesday in Abuja.

He urged Lagerback to harness the potential in the Nigerian football and ensure he transformed into a development coach.

“From the reports I have here, you have an added value of becoming a developmental coach. So I want to see you carrying football in Nigeria beyond the World Cup.

“By any chance you are able to get to the final of 2010 World Cup in South Africa, you will continue to the next World Cup,” he said.

Ndanusa also called on soccer-loving Nigerians to support the new Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser, to ensure that the country excelled in South Africa.

“I solicit support and cooperation from all Nigerians for the new coach so that Nigeria excels at the World Cup.

“Give him a chance because he has a tested record and together, we will excel,” Ndanusa said.

He told Lagerback that the government and Nigerians would ensure an enabling environment for him to function effectively.

Responding, Lagerback said it would be interesting working in Nigeria, adding that he would come up with detailed plans in two weeks.
