Nigeria beat Togo in Africa volleyball tourney

Nigeria’s female team on Tuesday defeated their Togolese counterparts 2-1 at the ongoing Confederation of Africa Volleyball (CAVB) Zone Three championships in Cotonou.

The Secretary, Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Patrick Abobi, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on phone from Cotonou that the second game would be against host Benin Republic on Thursday.

Abobi said the 12-member team had prepared very well for the eight-nation championships scheduled to end on April 18.

“We have prepared very well for the championships and the ladies are ready to do the country proud.

“They have promised to improve with every match to ensure a successful outing,” Abobi added.

Ghana, Nigeria, Republic of Benin, Togo, Cote d’Ivoire, Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger Republic are featuring in the one-week championships which started on April 11, but Nigeria is competing only in the female category.
