State university takes off with 98 students

The Ondo State University of Science and
Technology (OSUSTECH), Okitipupa yesterday announced that a total
number of 98 students had been admitted for 2011/ 2012 academic session.

The institution recently regained its operational
license from the National Universities Commission (NUC) after its
failure to commence academic activities since 2008.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Tolu
Odugbemi who disclosed this to reporters while monitoring the
registration exercise which took place at the temporary site of the
school in Okitipupa, said the institution will now start academic
activities.

He urged the new students to be morally upright
and face their studies with every zeal and determination to succeed in
their academic endeavours in the University.

Mr Odugbemi also informed the students that the
management of the University was determined to ensure effective
lecturer-student contact in order to give the best scientific training
comparable with other notable institutions in the world.

The Vice-Chancellor lauded the dedication of the state government to the educational development of the state.

The Head of the Department of Chemical Sciences of the University,
Bunmi Magbagbeola also advised the students to inculcate the habit of
regular reading, punctuality at lectures and ensure that they dress
decently at all times.
