Presidential candidate of the Social Democratic
Party(SDP), Pat Utomi has lamented the docility of Nigerian youth in
the face of corruption, avarice and the ceaseless show of wealth by
public officials. He said this to journalists in Lagos at an
anti-corruption crusade held by the National Anti-Corruption Volunteer
Corps, (NAVC), a Non-Governmental Organisation.

Mr Utomi advised youth to rise up against
corruption, rigging of election and multiple voting in order to
retrieve their future from the jaws of death. He said ,the creation of
an international criminal court will check corruption and other
vices,so common in the country.

He recollected that he was scorned at when he
mentioned to a reporter in the United States that “that a time would
come when leaders that perpetrate gross injustice and genocide against
their own people would be arraigned before an international court of
justice for prosecution.” He asks “But now, what do we have?” To this,
he replies “Charles Taylor and some other people are standing before
that court”.

Pat Utomi alleged that public office holders
committed grand theft and this has led to comatose state of industries
in Nigeria and large unemployment rate. He advised the youth to come
out massively and scrutinise those campaigning for their votes because
this directly translates to the quality of lives they will lead in the
next five years.
