Nasarawa community endorses state governor

The Eggon people
have endorsed the candidacy of the Nasarawa State Governor, Aliyu Akwe
Doma as he seeks re-election. They made this declaration in a meeting
which took place at Akpata, Agidi development area of the state.
According to them, Mr Doma has “succeeded in laying a concrete
foundation for the socio-economic transformation of the state for the
three and half years he has spent so far.” The spokesman of the
community and Minister of information and communication, Labaran Maku,
stated that the entire community has chosen to identify with Mr Doma in
appreciation of how he has identified with the Eggon people at all
levels of development. Mr Maku stated that the gathering which had
Senator Patricia Akwashiki in attendance was to reaffirm their support
to governor Doma beyond 2011.

In the same light,
the Alago Students’ Union (ASU), an umbrella body for all Alago
students in tertiary institutions across the nation, has declared its
support for Mr Doma.

The group made its
position known in a press briefing held at the Abacha Youth Centre in
Lafia, saying “having observed with keen interest his antecedents,
policies and numerous achievements, in the area of road constructions,
Badakoshi Agricultural Scheme, 500 housing units, skill acquisition, to
mention a few, we the members of ASU, wish to identify with Governor
Doma and to categorically declare our total support in his second term
bid.” President of the union, Addra Jonathan Okuba, while urging all
those who are seeking for various political positions across the state
to play politics with decorum, enjoined the people of the state to
support the second-term ambition of Mr Doma.
