The Anti-Corruption Revolution (ANCOR), an organisation affiliated to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), has described the reception organised by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for its former National Vice Chairman (South), Olabode George, as a celebration of corruption in Nigeria.

The group in a statement issued in Osogbo by its National Public Relations Officer Amitolu Shittu, stated that the rousing welcome accorded Mr George shows clearly that the future of Nigeria is shady.

Mr Shittu who described the action as uncivilised and ungodly, added that the PDP was celebrating the evil, which according to him, means “they have shown clearly to the whole world now that PDP is encouraging, stamping, legalising and institutionalising corruption in the country.”

He blamed President Goodluck Jonathan for sending the minister for defence, Adetokunbo Kayode, to represent him at the ceremony, saying the President’s action shows that he is desperate on his second term ambition.

“President Jonathan should bury his face in shame among the comity of nation’s head of states and governments for supporting corruption and illegality,” he added.

He urged the people of the country to rise against corruption and fight against corrupt leaders at both the federal and state levels.

He, however, commended the EFCC chairman, Farida Waziri on her effort to stamp out the menace of corruption in Nigeria and urged her not to be deterred in fighting corruption.
