‘AY Live’ gets a new date

Popular comedian AY has scheduled his annual comedy show, AY Live for Sunday, May 1, 2011.

According to the
comedian, who spoke at a press briefing held at the Koko Lounge at the
E-Center Mall in Yaba on Thursday, March 10,2011, this year’s annual
comedy show is tagged ‘Another Invasion’ and will hold at the Eko Hotel
and Suites on Workers’ Day. The comedian said the show, which was
initially billed for Easter Sunday, April 24, is postponed “because of
the electoral activities in the month of April and also to enable all
class of people especially workers to share in the fun and excitement
of the show since the next day is also a public holiday”.

According to the
show’s organisers, this year’s edition will feature Ghanaian actor
Majid Michel and actress Nadia Buari; UK based DJ Jam Jam, Nigerian UK
based comedian Mohammed Jammal, and several top Nigerian entertainers
including Princess, I Go Dye, Gordons, Seyi Law, Aki and Paw-Paw.
Musicians including 9ice, MI, Banky W, WizKid, Ice Prince, Jesse Jags
and DJ Jimmy Jatt will also perform at the show.

When asked why he
has infused Nollywood actors to his show, the comedian said “The reason
I am going for these people is because they already have a brand name
for themselves, they are known for acting and it is a way of adding
value to the AY Live show because everybody is used to going out there
to see standup comedy shows and watch the musicians perform but this is
a different angle where you get to see those you see on TV do something
live. It’s just a twist to our entertainment content”.

Aside its usual
Lagos, Abuja, Kaduna and Port Harcourt show, the comedian said the show
would be going to other African countries like Ghana and also to the
United States this year.
