The Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole has taken
the campaign of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) to traders in
markets in Benin city, the state capital.

The governor who led the campaign train to the
Oliha market, Eyaen cattle market, Ahor Cattle market, Aduwawa market,
New Benin market, Agbado market and Uselu market at the weekend, urged
the traders and their customers to vote for the party for continuity in
the developmental programmes going on in the state. He appealed to the
people to shun empty promises from the opposition party, saying it
failed to develop the state in the 10 years it was in power. “The
electorate should drive the PDP out of Edo state and Nigeria because of
their failure to effect meaningful change in the lives of the people
and the country,” he said. He said by next week, contractors will start
work on rebuilding the Agbado market and that the Aduwawa and Oliha
markets will also be rebuilt, while the Ramat Park market will be
relocated to Lucky Way in line with the request of the traders.

A candidate of the party, Johnson Agbonnayima
called on the people to vote for all candidates representing the ACN at
the polls. Mr. Agbonnayima, who is aspiring for chairmanship of Ikpoba
Okha Local government council in the state, spoke to newsmen during the
door to door campaign led by Mr.Oshiomhole. He described the door to
door campaign as very necessary in order to sensitise the people on the
need to vote credibly for their future and that of their children. Mr.
Oshiomhole had taken campaign for votes in the forthcoming elections to
the doorsteps of the people by going from door to door and street to
street, canvassing for the peoples’ support.

Mr Agbonnayima, who described himself as the man
to beat in the council area, said he is adequately prepared for the
election. He said he has already prepared himself for the task and
promised to use his good will to attract development to the area, just
as he promised to re-enact the developmental strive of the governor by
way of complementing his effort in the local government, if elected.

Places visited by the governor included Uwelu spare part market,
Siloko road, Oregbeni market and other places where mammoth crowds of
people welcome the campaign train.
