Siasia: ‘Nigeria good for AYC title’

30 April 2011

Super Eagles coach, Samson Siasia, has tipped the Flying Eagles to win this years African Youth Championship in South Africa on Sunday.

(John) Obuh is a disciplined and very determined coach and I see him inspiring the team to win the cup at the expense of Cameroon on Sunday, predicted Siasia.

We have the players who can deliver the goods. They should just listen to their coach and play strictly to instructions and I am confident of Nigerias victory.

The former Flying Eagles coach disclosed he was excited by the fine run of the U20s at the AYC because some of the players from there will give him good options in the Super Eagles.

I am very happy because the success of the Flying Eagles and the U-23 national team invariably translates to the success of the Super Eagles,” Siasia told MTNFootball.com.

“These are the teams expected to provide quality players to the Eagles and I am even happier that the two teams are doing very well in their various competitions.

He also lauded the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for supporting the Flying Eagles.

The President of the NFF has been in South Africa to see things for himself and the coaches and players of the Flying Eagles are aware of this which to me is a great motivation in itself, he saluted.

Also, the financial incentives to the team have been a big source of encouragement. If we continue like this, Nigerian football is headed for the Promise Land.
