Tambuwal Condoles With IG, Victims

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has commiserated with the Inspector General of Police, Police High Command, victims and relations of those affected by yesterday’s bomb blast in Abuja.

Describing the incident as ‘ most unfortunate’, the Speaker regretted that it was “coming at a time when all hands were on deck to enhance the frontiers of peace, unity and national security.

In a press statement from the office of the Speaker which was made available to LEADERSHIP yesterday, Tambuwal assured Nigerians that the House of Representatives would “continue to provide whatever legislative intervention necessary to resolve crisis and uphold the relative peace and stability which democracy offers”. He added that “while a democratic dispensation facilitates the enjoyment of many freedoms, it is only proper that segments of our society which harbour any kind of disaffection must imbibe the new ideal of due process and the rule of law in the resolution of grievances”.

He noted that “a situation where innocent citizens are intimidated and murdered, neither serves the interest of the aggrieved nor that of the society for that matter”.
Tambuwal also appealed to all aggrieved persons to channel their grievances to the appropriate authorities for possible resolution in the overall interest of the country.
