Calls For Resignation Of PDP NWC Intensify

Disturbed by the state of affairs within the Peoples Democratic Party, the PDP Transformation Network (PTN) and the PDP National Interest Group (PNIG) has called for the immediate resignation of the National Working Committee of the party.

Speaking at a joint press briefing yesterday in Abuja, the groups held that the leadership of the party has failed in their responsibility as a team to organize the party stressing that “it has lost direction, credibility and vision to carry on the dreams and philosophy of the founding fathers of the party”.

They further called on the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party to convoke a meeting immediately to pass a vote of no confidence on the current NWC members for none performance.

According to national coordinator of PTN, prince Bello Godspower, flanked by his counterpart, PNIG, Mr Dominic Alancha said “we frown at the mannerism and ways the NWC is conducting itself on the issues of the national chairman and other sundry matters in the party.

“You will agree with me that the party leadership has lost supremacy and total control of its members. This is evident in the actions of the elected members on the platform of the party in the National Assembly, they vehemently disobeyed the party decisions and resisted the zoning arrangement. This is as a result of insensitivity on the part of the leadership of the party, according to an adage if the head is bad, the body rottens. We therefore as a matter of party interest call on all the few members of NWC to resign with immediate effect as it is most honorable thing to do at this critical moment of the party to allow for transformation and reorganization.”

They noted that moves by the party leadership to look inward for it new acting chairman for the party is a mark of failure adding that they will not hesitate to go to court for redress if proper action is not taken as a matter of urgency.

“The party is not bereft of men and women of integrity and capacity to redefine and reposition it for excellence. The self seeking agenda of the current NWC to hold on to power at all cost is the bane of cohesion and direction in the party.”

They however urged the south-east to desist from agitating for the national chairmanship slot adding that the position has been swapped with that of the Secretary to the government of the federation which the zone currently occupies.
