Youth Group Visits LEADERSHIP, Plans Projects For Schools

A non-governmental organisation, Millennium Generation Foundation, yesterday announced plans to commence the implementation of projects aimed at empowering youths below the age of 26 across schools in the country.

During a visit to LEADERSHIP headquarters in Abuja, the foundation’s leader, Aisha Shuaibu, said the group had lined up projects that include awareness creation on certain societal issues, provision of school facilities and donations to the less-privileged homes.

Fashion shows, according to her, is the first in the series and would be carried out on July 24 this year at Aso Pada Primary School, Mararaba, Nasarawa State, to enhance youths’? appreciation of crafts and recreation.

“We are youths studying abroad and have decided to come home to contribute our quota to educational advancement in Nigeria. We hope to use this platform to express ourselves and let youths in our schools to appreciate crafts and the need to study under a good atmosphere.

“We have chosen a school in Mararaba, Aso Pada Primary School to kick-start our activities among schools in Nigeria, and we hope that any amount realised from this show will be channeled towards assisting the less privileged,” she explained.

Aisha said that the group hoped to realise about N1.7 million from ticket sales, which would in turn be used to assist the school in areas of need.

Also speaking, Ibrahim Adamu said that the group decided to visit LEADERSHIP in continuation of its visits to media houses to familiarise them with the programmes and objectives of the Foundation, which, he said had its origin in the United Kingdom. The three-man team was received by the c ompany’s Executive Director, Editorial Business, Mr Iyobosa Uwugiaren.
“We are on holiday to Nigeria and have decided we will use the opportunity to visit media houses and let them know what we stand for and plan now and in the following years.”
