Two More People Die As Building Collapses In Ogun

The effects of last Sunday’s heavy rain has caused the death of two people? when a building located at Agbado area of Ogun State collapsed.

According to sources, the affected persons were Toyin Ogidi (57) and Idowu whose surname was not known as at the time of filing this report were initially rushed to Grace Hospital at Agbado were they were confirmed dead.

Located at within the popular Agbado Market, the building was said to have been weakened by the effects of the downpour only to crumble when the victims said to be occupants sought to return their after they reportedly abandoned it.

Though, many people were reported dead as a result of the flood? that also washed away valuable properties in the area, the new incidence sent people in the area into mourning when the building said to have been built many years ago caved in.

The eye witness said, “it happened around 8pm, I guess they were going to their house to see it after they left it on Sunday when the flood took over everywhere but unknown to them the building was weak. It was four people who were going to the house but suddenly the wall of the building collapsed. Two people escaped because they ran from the place while the other two could not because it was too late, many people ran there to help them.”

Ogun State Command Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi confirmed the incidence when contacted, and said that the two people died on their way back home to retrieve their belongings.
