As Sallah festivities continue in Kano and its environs, the state governor, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, have canvassed for the positive engagement of youths through job creation as a means to achieve lasting peace in the country.
Kwankwaso also said that his administration was fully committed to the preservation of the traditional and religious values of the people of the state, even as it will continue to pursue its development-orientated programmes, especially youth-friendly ones.
The governor who stated this while receiving the Emir of Kano, during the annual Hawan Nassarawa homage to the Government House, said that the government was making moves to provide an Independent Power Plant (IPP) for the state along with other infrastructural projects.
“While we will not relent in promoting the core traditional values of our people, we are poised to establish about 14 assorted institutions to train our youths to become key players in nation building,” the governor asserted.
Kwankwaso expressed his appreciation to the Emir and the Kano Emirate Council for paying the traditional homage, expressing happiness that the Emir’s visit to the Government House had afforded them the opportunity to share views on ways of developing the state.
The governor was particularly grateful to the people of Kano State who had rallied round the state government since it came into office, particularly during the
Sallah festivities, and prayed for the sustenance of peace and progress in the state.
On his part, the Emir noted that the traditional leadership in the state was aware of initiatives by the Kwankwaso administration to revamp the sectors of education, health as well as improve the security situation in the state.
He, however, advised the government to intensify efforts at accelerating youth empowerment, security as well as promoting unity among the people.
The royal father also implored the federal government to pay more attention to the improvement of the sectors of health, energy, manufacturing and agriculture.
He also urged local government councils in Nigeria to be more alive to their responsibilities as they were the closest tier of government to the common man.
Bayero stressed the need for strengthened cooperation and brotherhood among Nigerians, pointing out that nothing meaningful can be achieved if the people continued to exist in discord.
