NDDC Board: Abia Group Petitions Jonathan, Mark Over Nominee

?

Again, the Abia State nominee to the recently dissolved board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) ?Mr Alloysious ?Nwagboso who was rejected by the Senate last time may yet face re-nomination challenges.
His nomination has triggered off protests, thus setting the stage for yet another showdown in the senate.
?
?
In a move to prevent President Goodluck Jonathan from forwarding the nomination of ?Nwagboso to the senate , the people of Ukwa West have sent ?to the President a protest letter stating their opposition to his candidacy.
The Ukwa West Youth Assembly, the arrow head of the opposition, in the letter said that ?the choice of Nwagboso ?would ?trigger off threats to peace and security in Ukwa Ngwa .
?
?
?“For want of integrity, fairness and honesty and the need to preserve peace and crisis free Abia State, Mr. Aloysius ?Chijindu Nwaghoso should ?be dropped and any other name in the governor’s list be chosen. We need a new and transparent beginning, we must do away with ?crooked and fraudulent practices that bedevilled the dissolved NDDC board,” the group appealed in the letter ?signed by Ndukaku Nwamuo and Victor Uchemadu .
?
?
The first time Nwagboso was nominated to the board of NDDC in 2007, it met with vehement opposition.
?One of such ?opposition was ?by ?Abia caucus of the House of Representatives.?
Nwagboso’s candidacy became a subject of ?litigation in two different suits FHC/ABJ/101/07 and FHC/ABJ/CS/157/07.
?
?
To the Ukwa Ngwa people, during the short period Nwagboso spent at the board, it was characterised by strife, controversy, insider trading as well as the subject of ?his indigeneship.?
His name was later substituted with that of Dr. Jacob Ogbonna Anuruegbu by the late President Musa Yar’Adua.
?
?
However, following the recent dissolution of the NDDC board by President Jonathan for non performance and the call for nomination into the new board, the people of Ukwa Ngwa said that they expect new persons of integrity with less controversy to be nominated into the board this time around.
?The people said that their demand was that since the governor has sent in three names, including Nwagboso to the president for his final choice, any other person but Nwagboso ?should ?be forwarded to the senate for screening and confirmation.
