Chime Calls For New Sense Of Patriotism

Enugu State Governor Sullivan Chime has called on Nigerians to use the occasion of the nation’s 51st independence anniversary to embrace a new spirit of patriotism, sacrifice and commitment towards strengthening the unity, socio-economic and political well being of the country.

Chime, who made this call in his anniversary message, said that contemporary events and circumstances in the country today were enough to compel Nigerians to pursue ideals and visions that only foster national integration and advancement.

The governor noted that years of unbridled corruption and political maladministration had disillusioned many Nigerians and caused some to embark on courses that are inimical and detrimental to the unity and progress of the county.
According to him, the nature of the challenges facing the nation today, especially those concerning security, unemployment and frequent natural and unnatural tragedies are enough to foist on Nigerians, a new sense of solidarity and comradeship.

He, however, expressed satisfaction in the present generation of Nigerian leaders, who according to him were showing visible resolve to restore the nation to the path of glory and rapid advancement, pointing out that this new direction was complemented by the rising level of awareness and sensitivity among Nigerians to issues concerning the general well being of the nation.

He however, prayed that God would grant Nigerian leaders the wisdom and courage to tackle her multifarious problems and ensure that the dreams of her founding fathers were actualised in good time so that the well being of future generations of Nigerians could be secured and guaranteed today. ?
