Mass Exam Failures Due To Bad Teachers – Gov Aliyu

Niger State Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu has said that the mass failures recorded in schools was an indication of poor teaching and learning, and an embarrassment to teachers.?

Governor Aliyu who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Hon Ahmed Ibeto spoke at this year’s World Teachers’ Day celebration at the UK Bello Art Theatre, Minna, yesterday.?

Aliyu said that teachers at both primary and post-primary schools should be more dedicated, resourceful and committed to their duties.?
He therefore challenge teachers to proffer lasting solutions to what he referred to as “recurring embarrassing situation” while saying that his government was prepared to welcome suggestions from the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) on how to move education forward in the state.?

Aliyu said that this years’ theme for the celebration of teachers’ day, “Teachers for Gender Equality,” was timely and appropriate as his administration considered gender equality as a very important factor in promoting sustainable development.?
He posited that gender equality would promote social justice, peace and security as well as quality education for the girl child and, therefore, urged the NUT to mobilise and involve more women in their programmes and activities.?
He said women played crucial roles in the development process of any society.
