NUJ Tackles Northern Govs Over NNN

The Nigeria Union Of Journalists (NUJ) has resolved to pursue the settlement of the unpaid salaries and gratuities of the staff of the New Nigerian Newspapers (NNN) with a call on the Northern Governors Forum (NGF) to rise up to the challenge and save the region from shame.

The National Chairman of the NUJ, Mohammed Garba told a press conference in Kaduna that the union would back any action taken by the staff of the company in order to put the Newspapers in the right track following its contribution to the growth and development of the region?
He warned that henceforth, the Union would not keep quiet in the face of abuse of journalists in the country, and stated that “New Nigeria Newspapers is very important especially at this point in time that we found ourselves

“We learnt some time ago that the Vice President, Arch. Namadi Sambo was given the mandate to revive the Newspaper during his days as the governor of Kaduna state. Now that he is the vice president, we are calling on him and the northern governors to know that if the New Nigeria Newspapers collapses today, it will be a shame on them”.
