NITDA Postpones e-Nigeria Conference

National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has announced the postponement of annual e-Nigeria conference scheduled to commence today.

Director General of NITDA, Cleopas Angaya, who did not give details for the postponement, said it was due to “unforeseen reasons” Sources at the agency who would not like to be named, said the event did not receive the blessing of the Minister of Communications Technology, Omobola Johnson, but LEADERSHIP also learnt that the postponement was necessary to allow for ample time to realign the event to the mandate of the new ministry.

NITDA until recently has been an agency of the federal ministry of science and technology, but with the creation of the CT ministry, it is now one of its six parastatals.
About N50 million was approved for the event which has the objective of creating awareness on the diffusion and deployment of Information Technology in Nigeria.

It is a platform for professionals and decision makers both within and outside Nigeria to brainstorm on current development in the area of Information Technology and how the country can leverage on them to achieve socio-economic development.
