FRSC Apprehends 11,800 Traffic Offenders In Delta

The Delta command of Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has said that no fewer than 11, 857 offenders in the state were arrested for 13,438 traffic offences between April and September.

The Sector Commander, Mr Luka Ikpi, gave the figures in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Asaba.

Ikpi said that between April and June, 4, 988 offenders were apprehended for 5,631 offences, with April accounting for 1,474 offenders and 1,679 offences.

He also said 1,701 offenders were arrested for 1,890 offences in May, while in June 1,814 offenders were arrested for 2,062 offences.

He said that between July and September, a total of 6,869 offenders were apprehended for committing
7, 807 offences.

Ikpi further said that July accounted for 2,021 offenders while August and September had 2,103 offenders and 2,745 offenders respectively.?

He said that the most prominent offences committed were seat belt violation, light and caution sign violation, fire extinguisher violation as well as riding motorcycle without helmet.

The sector commander told NAN that 3, 267 vehicles were impounded within the period and added that 1,538 motorcycles were also impounded.
