HASAL Declared Best Micro Finance Bank

For its high quality services and human friendly banking policy, as well as outstanding contributions towards human development and nation building, newly crowned Miss NGO Nigeria, Miss Judith Thompson Osumenya, has declared HASAL Micro-Finance Bank the best microfinance bank in Abuja.

The beauty queen made the declaration while on a courtesy visit to the bank where the award was presented in company of organisers of the pageant, Skyworld Entertainment Limited and Peace Consolidation Association Abuja, a few days after she was crowned.

According to a statement signed by Mr. David Agba Fidel, head, corporate communications of HASAL she said, HASAL stood out amongst other operators of the micro-finance subsector of the Nigerian economy, pointing out that the bank’s well tailored products have indeed touched the lives of many and also assisted several micro businesses to grow, which will ultimately aid in the fight against poverty in the country.

Based on this and its contributions to the growth of the economy, Osumenya lauded the bank while charging other operators to borrow a leaf from HASAL in order to better the lot of Nigerians.

The queen also assured that her pet project which focus is at bridging the gap between the rich and poor would not be compromised. She then promised to partner NGOs to reduce poverty during her one year reign.

Responding, managing – director of HASAL Microfinance Bank, Mr. Rogers Nwoke, thanked the queen and organisers of the pageant for recognising the efforts of the bank.

He, however, charged the newly crowned Miss NGO Nigeria to ensure that she does not relent in efforts to touch the lives of the poor as part of her duties and responsibility during her reign.

Mr. Nwoke emphasised on the queen’s responsibilities over the next one year, urging her to always remember that she is an ambassador of hope and a voice for the voiceless.
He pledged the bank’s continuous support for the queen, assuring that at any point that she requires assistance or partnership from the bank, she should not hesitate to make the request.

The HASAL MFB boss expressed delight at the award which he said shows that the efforts of the management and staff were not in vain even as he pointed out that the bank which took off with only N20 million capital base has now grown to over N500 million.

According to him, “We can tell you that we were not approached to pay for this award, this is not a case of buying an award so we are glad to have earned it. We appreciate the Queen and her entourage for acknowledging our worth and are appreciative of your dream to touch the lives of the poor, which coincidentally is the vision and philosophy of the bank, “we touch your life for good,” he said.

Earlier in his brief remarks, Director of Skyworld Entertainment Ltd and Peace Consolidation Association, Mr. Oluwatosin Adeladun, commended the bank for its achievements so far especially in encouraging rural banking and assisting poor Nigerians within the short period of its existence, the statement said.
