Grandpa Arrested For Ritual Killing Of Grandson

? The Bauchi State Police Commissioner, Ikechukwu Aduba, yesterday in Bauchi said that his Command had arrested a grandfather, one Sani Hamidu, with son who? conspired and killed his grandchild, Sagiru? Abdullahi, removed his eyes, genitals and throat? for ritual purposes.

Aduba? told? newsmen? at the police headquarters? that the grandfather, who was among the 16 suspects arrested and paraded by the command in recent days, committed the act at Ashura? Rahama? village in Toro local government area of the? state, adding that after committing the dastardly act, he dumped the corpse of the boy in a? well from where the police recovered it.

Represented? by? his deputy, Abdulmajid Ali , the? police chief, however, said the old man’s? son was still? at large and that the police were still investigating the case with a? view to charging the suspects to court for culpable homicide, punishable with death.

Also paraded was one Mohammed Sabo, of Rigar Isamiya? village in Darazo local government, for beating his wife to death with a hoe on their way to their farm.
Aduba also disclosed that policemen on routine patrol also rrested one? Sabiu Sirajo, who was in possession of 18 cutlasses and 14 daggers around? Peoples Club, opposite Dass?

Park in Bauchi, and? added that? a combined team of policemen and the Neighbourhood Watch Group of Ganjuwa, acting on information, arrested two suspects who confessed that they were specialists in attacking and? robbing people of their? belongings.

One Adigizey Abel John? and two others were equally? arrested for? stealing his his father’s chequebook and faking the father’s signature with a view to cashing a sum of N2.2million from the Bauchi branch of? Oceanic Bank.

According to the commissioner of police, “Abel and the two others left Jos, the family’s? residence, to Bauchi for this purpose. To cover their act, they went to MTN office,? Bauchi, and swapped Abel father’s SIM number 08035633925.

“One of them, Hezekiah was given the welcome back SIM bearing the same number to intercept? bank transactions in respect of the cheque, while impersonating the father of the principal? suspect.”

The command’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS)? working in collaboration with people at Wunti area? of Bauchi metropolis? also arrested? three suspects who were trying to snatch a? Toyota Camry 2002 model with registration number BT 412 RSH valued at N3million.

The police also? equally arrested one Umar Idris who, in company of others now at large, went to? burgle a Mercedes Benz Marcopolo luxurious bus belonging to Ekwos Transport Company,? Lagos.

The bus, Aduba? informed, was going to Lagos from Yola and had been involved in an accident at Toro, adding that? the transport company hired three watchmen to guard the bus. The arrested suspect was said to? have confessed that one Alhaji Yunusa Garba in Jos was their major receiver of vehicle spare parts.
He was arrested with scraps of Marcopolo luxury bus, two vehicle radiators, two alternators?? and one front cover of trailer truck from his shop.
