Task Force On Trade Facilitation Urges FAAN To Improve Services

? Adejuwon made the call during? an on- the- spot assessment visit by members of the taskforce to the airport.
?The chairman pointed out that the taskforce had seen that there was inadequate number of trolleys at the arrival and departure areas of the airport and urged the management of? FAAN to facilitate replacement of some of the worn- out trolleys at the airport.

? Commenting on the stench that was coming out of? the? toilets of the airport,? the taskforce advised the authority to ensure that friendly fragrance is put to use in the toilets in order to ensure that? visitors form good opinion about the country.

? On the processes and procedures for movement of people and goods as well as facilities on ground, the taskforce commended the Nigerian Immigration Service for the introduction of E-Passport equipment that fast-track efficient service delivery to passengers.

?Adejuwon stressed the need to ensure best practices in terms of movement of goods and people as well as provision of solid structure and infrastructure.
?He observed that the size of the airport was still limited in terms of services and facilities, but added that it was a bit better than what the taskforce observed in other locations.

“The facility for now is still not adequate, there is a lot of room for improvement. If we want to achieve the best goal and transformation agenda of the? President, we need more? funds, government alone cannot do it. We believe that with the renewed interest from prospective foreign investors who are prepared to team up with the? federal government to expand the facilities and make it cope with the increase in number of flights envisaged in the next four years,”he? added.

The chairman said that the taskforce had drawn the attention of FAAN to some of the gaps in its services and believes that within a short time, amendments would be made.

The Head of Immigration at the airport,Mrs. Adzun Ahad,? expressed? the hope that the E-Passport equipment installed at the airport would make officers of the Service perform their duty effectively.

She however added that instruction on designated issuance of visa to genuine investors and tourists had not been communicated to them to commence the process as pronounced by the federal government.

The taskforce is charged with the responsibility of ensuring compliance with best practices and to facilitate movement of goods and people along border corridors and within the country.
