The federal government is committed to partnering with the private sector to ensure sustained growth of the industries and make them globally competitive, the Head of Service of the Federation, Alhaji Isah Bello Sali, has said.
Sali stated this in his text of an address delivered at the National Annual Conference of the Hospital, Industrial and Institutional Caterers holding in Kaduna.
Represented by the Director of Service Welfare in his office, Alhaji S.Inuwa Garba, the head of service said that government would continue to partner with the private sector “ to ensure that our institutions and industries, including the hotels, catering/hospitality, travel and tourism industries, do not only thrive but also exceed anticipated ceilings of the global expectations.
“While government is not unaware of the challenges of the sector, it has remained resolute in its commitment to provide an enabling environment and a level playing ground for the sustainable growth of the hospitality and entertainment sector of the nation’s economy,” he said.
Alhaji Sali urged members of the Nigerian Hotel and Catering Institute (NHCI) to galvanize their energies towards taking the hospitality industries to a higher level, thereby enabling them to compare favourably with its counterparts in other parts of the world.
?He gave the assurance of the government in providing an enabling environment and level playing ground that will stimulate competition between and among them and propel towards global competitiveness.
?Earlier in his opening address, the National President of the NHCI, Mr Bola Jaiyeola identified a number of challenges facing the institution, he however promised that the institution in partnership with relevant authorities would ensure that the challenges, such as the lack of skilled manpower, high operational costs, inadequate work place security, infrastructural deficits and unanticipated decline in income, among others are addressed.
