Septuagenarian, 3 Others Cut Man’s Leg, Hand With Machete

Four men, including a septuagenarian, were on Friday charged before a Surulere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly cutting off a man’s hand and leg with a machete.

The accused — Edike Emeka, 49; Dick Ike, 61; Oladun Mannaseh, 70; and Rafiu Olorunmbe, 35– are facing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and causing grievous body harm.

They all pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Idowu Onime, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Oct. 19 at 28, Shobadu, St., Sari-Iganmu, a Lagos suburb.

He said the attack followed an argument between the accused and the complainant, Tajudeen Ogunbadejo.
?
Onime said Ogunbadejo, who was seriously injured, was kept in a vehicle outside the courtroom.

He said the offences contravened Sections 338 and 516 of the Criminal code, Laws of Lagos State.

The Senior Magistrate, Mr M.K.O. Fadeyi, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 each with one surety each in like sum.

Further hearing has been fixed for Nov. 22.?
