Police Parade Suspected Killers Of Edo Musician

It was a? harvest of hoodlums in Benin City as the Edo State Police command yesterday paraded two suspects in connection with the kidnap and murder of popular Benin musician, Bayo Ade.

The two suspects, Chinedu Ihieme (24) and Dickson Iyamu Edamwen alias Don Wany were among the eight kidnappers and 11 armed robbers arrested at different locations in the state during the week. They were believed to be behind the surge in kidnapping and robbery incidents in the State.

It would be recalled that? Ade was kidnapped in September, 2012 on his way to perform at? a birthday ceremony and was later found dead 24 hours later after his abductors received the? ransom they asked for.

Briefing newsmen, the State Commissioner of Police, David Omojola, thanked members of the pubic for their useful information that helped the Police in their investigation and eventual arrest of the criminals.

Also paraded was a 68 year old man, John Ogboroju, a retired soldier who was alleged to be the keeper of arms and ammunition for the kidnappers and also the father of three of the? fleeing suspects whose names were given as Jeremiah, Toju and Utieyin.

The police boss disclosed that on? October 10, 2011, the suspects, Festus Aninorishe and Sunday Ejor, who belong to a five man gang of kidnappers, were arrested for a case of kidnapping while the three others are still at large.

Another suspect, Bright Ohumukoro was alleged to have taken part in the kidnap of one Patricia and collected a ransom of N1.2 million from her but was apprehended when he failed to leave the victim alone and continue to threaten her with phone calls and collected recharge cards worth N17, 000 from her.

Also paraded were Godspower Ikoke and Uyi Egharevba, who were arrested while attempting to snatch a car from its owner before luck ran out on them and they were apprehended. Uyi Egharevba was arrested later.

Other notorious robbers paraded include Aminu Abubakar, Idemudia Atekhe, Niyi Ogunleye, Osarodion Okunrobo, Osamnyi Isibor, Endurance Aburiemen, Emmanuel Izaya, Igbineweka Imariagba and Lucky Gogo.

They were said to specialise in using motorcycles to carry out their nefarious activities. Items recovered from them include one locally made pistol, one live Cartridge, three motorcycle, one Macron pistol, seven rounds of ammunitions and N259, 260 in cash.
