‘Petition Against Suswam To UN Baseless’

The governor of Benue State, Dr Gabriel Torwua Suswam has described the purported petition against him to the United Nations for Human Rights by a group of Nigerians residing in the United States of America (USA) as a piece of propaganda and smear campaign.
?

In a statement made through his special adviser on media and public affairs, Dr Cletus Akwaya, the Governor said that the petition was based on rumours rather than reality, adding that it was a propaganda by the Action Congress of Nigeria to smear the governor’s image.
?

Governor Suswam stated that he had no hand in the death of the three persons mentioned in the petition and noted that both his administration and the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP)? were not connected in any way with? the?? death of those mentioned in the said petition.
?

“This petition is written in bad faith to smear Governor Suswam’s name before the international community,” the statement said,? adding “the petition is the international dimension of the sustained propaganda mounted against the Suswam administration by the ACN since the party was defeated in April governorship election.”
?

The governor described the petition as a diversionary measure by the ACN to sweep under the carpet, the gruesome killing of six PDP supporters and the burning of about 100 houses belonging to PDP members in Ugbah in? Logo Local Government Area on October 17 by ACN thugs in the area.
?

“The cold blooded murder of the PDP supporters in the area by ACN thugs in supposed reprisal attacks was totally misplaced since no PDP member in the area??? has been linked to the death of Mr Celestine Ahemba Agber and Shangev Orayor which also formed the basis of the petition to the UN.”
