The Gbagyi Chiefdom yesterday in Kaduna described as false and mischievous the insinuation that one of its communities along Kaduna-Abuja Expressway, Gonin Gora, was a killing zone.
Addressing newsmen yesterday, the Dakacin Gonin Gora, and Walin Gbagyi, Malam Yusuf Sarki Doma, said it was a deliberate attempt to tarnish its image.
“We have been following the situation with dismay how our community is being labelled as killing spot. The elections violence happened in April occurred in all parts of Kaduna and beyond, but nobody deems it fit to talk about other communities except Gonin Gora but God knows we are not troublesome but peaceful people, and we are not killing people or harbouring killers.”
He added: “In the same April crisis, it was worse in places like Buruku, Rigachikun, Zaria, Maraban Jos; in fact, we have seen how a luxury bus was burnt and people killed and nobody is talking about these areas, but everyday it Gonin Gora this and that.
“They are saying that we should be relocated and our land taken away from us; it is just injustice. Our place is not so; we love peace, and are accommodating people of all shades and opinion. Government and security agencies should arrest and punish those spreading and blackmailing our place; again, anybody found sending messages should be arrest to prove it and show security agents places that killers are being harboured.”
