The zonal director of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Makurdi Network Centre, Mr. Maxwell Loko, has been robbed in Makurdi, the Benue state capital, in his hotel room.
Loko, who was transferred to Makurdi a week ago, had been lodging at Hotel Lucia, located along Old Otukpo road, in Makurdi.
The zonal director, in an interview, said he had gone out at about 6.pm on the fateful day, and when he returned at 11.pm,thieves had broken into his room and taken away his cash and personal belongings worth over half a million.
He said he had since reported the matter to the Police ‘B’ Division Makurdi, which subsequently arrest 10 employees of the hotel.
When contacted, state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Alaribe Ejike confirmed the incident, and said investigation was ongoing.
Meanwhile, the manager of Hotel Lucia, Moses Igbana, who is also being questioned by the police, said that such an ugly incident had never occurred in the hotel and lamented that it was giving a bad image to the hotel and the state.
