Nigerian Ports Consultative Council Holds Summit

Prominent Nigerians and eminent maritime stakeholders are to converge in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State from Monday 5? to 9,? December for the 2011 Maritime Summit, which would be hosted by the Nigerian Ports Consultative Council (NPCC)in collaboration with the state government.

According to a statement signed by the general manager, Public Affairs, Nigeria Ports Authority(NPA), Chief Michael Ajayi, among the prominent speakers expected at the summit are the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN), Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Engr. Omar Suleiman, Director- General of NIMASA, Mr. Patrick Akpobolokemi, and the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board(NCDMB), Engr. Ernest Nwapa.

The summit has as its? theme? “Unlocking Maritime Potentials of Akwa Ibom State for Accelerated Economic Development in Nigeria.”

The statement added that the paper presentation of the CBN governor would dwell on the role of the CBN and financial institutions in rapid economic development of the country, while the NPA managing director would be speaking on port infrastructural development and technical regulation.
