Kidnappers Release 2-year-old Baby For Crying Too Much

A two-year-old girl, Rejoice Aradu, who was kidnapped by hoodlums on November 30, 2011, in Rivers State, was later abandoned by her captors due to her persistent crying.

Aradu’s captors, who are already in police net, confessed to have demanded N10 million from her parents as ransom but decided to drop her off because she was ‘seriously crying.’

The commissioner of police in state, Mr. Suleiman Abbah, told LEADERSHIP in Port Harcourt that two of the suspected kidnappers, who are neighbours to the parents of their victim, dropped the little girl at a junction inside Oboburu area of the state where she was rescued by the police.

Abbah stated that a team of anti-robbery policemen from the command had, on December 3, 2011, arrested a gang of four kidnap suspects who confessed to kidnapping the girl and later dropping her for crying too much.

The police boss disclosed that policemen, acting on a tip-off, had on Monday, December 5, 2011, raided the hide-out of a kidnap gang where they arrested two suspected kidnappers and rescued three of their victims.

He said the suspects are making useful statements to the police while efforts were being intensified toward arresting the fleeing members of the gang.
