Eminent Nigerians Bid Ibru Goodbye

The atmosphere at Tafawa Balewa Square , a national? monument came alive yesterday when eminent Nigerians converged at the famous Our Saviour Church to pay their last respect to the publisher of the Guardian Newspapers Mr. Alex Ibru who passed on recently.

The eminent Nigerians included,? African’s Richest man Alhaji Aliko Dangote, , the Lagos state Governor Mr. Babatunde Fashola and his Ogun state counterpart Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Professor Wale Omole Aremo Segun Osoba, General Alani Akinrinade, Oba Otudeko, General Olu Bajowa, General Tunji Olurin , Don Etiebet and former Director General of the Nigeria Stock Exchange Dr. Ndidi Okereke –Onyuike , among others.

Most of the prominent Nigerians who paid tribute to the departed industrialist described him as a compassionate developer of men and resources whose ideologies would be missed by many in the country.

Speaking at the commendation service Mr. Ladi Williams , son of the late? legal icon? and a Senior Advocate Nigeria said” when this great Nigerian we are celebrating his life today got ministerial appointment from a useless regime led by late General Sanni Abacha, I advised him not to take the appointment. But he accepted because of the love he has for his fatherland and he was shot in the process”.

He added that ever since that incident, the media mogul remained a shadow of himself till he died???

The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola and his Ogun state counterpart, senator Ibikunle Amosun who came to honour him? both remarked that he was a great Nigerian.
Fashola who said his legacies will endure the test of time described his passage as painful.
