Why I Killed My Father – Suspect

A 32 year old man, Owolabi Kolade from Bankole village, near Oja Odan, Yewa South Local Government of Ogun State was, yesterday, paraded before newsmen by the Nigeria Police, Ogun State Command, for allegedly strangulating his aged father Mr Kolade to death.

The accused told LEADERSHIP, that he committed the offence because his late father had earlier threatened to kill him whenever they had misunderstanding.

He said, “on that fateful day as I returned from the farm, another disagreement ensued between the two of us, I told him that his action did not show the qualities of a good father, he threatened again to kill me that night which, from the way he spoke, I knew he meant every word”

Owolabi confessed that when his father slept that night, he did not wake up early in the morning as he used to do. It was his friend that discovered that he was dead when they went to his room to wake him up.

When asked whether he was actually responsible for the death, Owolabi said that the argument between the two made him take the first step so that his father would not kill him first.

Speaking on the bizarre issue, the State Commissioner of Police, Nicholas Nkedemene, said that the police, after thorough investigation, will charge the suspect to court for murder.
