Tiv/Fulani Crisis: Again Al-Makura Sues For Peace

Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State, has appealed to Fulanis to be at peace with their Tiv counterparts and other citizens of the state, to give room for the state to develop.

The governor, who made the appeal when Fulani leaders from the thirteen local government areas of the state, lead by Ardo Lawal Dano, paid him a courtesy call at the Government House, Lafia, Thursday, said the call was necessary now that his administration has placed priority on developing the state.

Al-Makura, who cautioned against inflammatory statements by either party, urged the Fulani heads to talk to their subjects on the peace initiative of the government, even as he warned that government will deal decisively with anyone who attempts to jeopardise the peace initiatives

On the earlier requests made by the Fulani leaders for government to provide them with grazing reserves and other social amenities, the governor, who reiterated his administration’s commitment to meet with the yearnings and aspirations of the people, assured that government will look into their requests with the view of solving them.

In another development, the governor has also assured women in the state of his administration’s resolved to carry them along by appointing them into key positions.

The governor made this known when he received TAAL women coordinators (his campaign platform), from the thirteen local government and sixteen development areas of the state at government house, Lafia.
