The National Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Chief Osita Okereke, has advised President Goodluck Jonathan to make peace with aggrieved political parties to strengthen the nation's democracy.
Okereke gave the advice in Abuja at a Gala Nite, organised by Hope Africa Foundation for African leaders.
He counselled political leaders to discard the 'winner-takes-all' attitude and embrace an all-inclusive arrangement where all parties would be involved in improving the nation's democratic process.
''It is only in Nigeria that the politics of 'winners-takes-all' is still fashionable.
''I will advise the President to make peace with the aggrieved political parties and politicians and I want to assure him that that is the only way that peace and harmony will be sustained,'' he said.
In his address, Chief Ambrose Owuru, Director-General of IPAC, tasked African leaders on selfless service to people in the continent, saying that this was critical to the attainment of real growth in all fields of human endeavor.
On corruption, the IPAC leader said that Nigerians must be prepared to fight the vice which has eaten deep into the nation's fabric.
Owuru, who is also the presidential candidate of Hope Democratic party (HDP), said the quest for quality leadership in Africa had been a serious issue, adding that unless the problem was overcome the continent's potential would remain undeveloped.
''One keeps wondering that in the midst of an abundance of quality and tested citizens of our continent, its quite embarrassing that we are being insulted on daily basis due to the propensity of care less attitudes of our leaders.
“The larger populace is constantly insulted by the performance and mentality of those in leadership position in virtually all strata of our political and social life,'' he said.
The gala night was attended by many party leaders.
