Court Adjourns Case Between Okorocha And PDP

The court of appeal sitting in Owerri, yesterday, adjourned hearing on the case brought by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, challenging the legality of the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, in annulling the results of three local government areas in the State and the subsequent conduct of a supplementary election.

The presiding judge, Justice Tijani Abubakar, after listening to the appeal by INEC pleading for the extension of time to respond, fixed January 5, 2012 for the hearing.

Answering questions from newsmen shortly after the adjournment, counsel to PDP, COC Akaolisa, said that they accepted the plea by INEC requesting for the extension of time and added that they were optimistic that the case would assume accelerated hearing once it commenced.
